Mobile Money changed everything in Africa — instant transfers, no bank required, money on your phone in seconds. But the moment you try to send money across borders, you're back to expensive fees, days of waiting, and undesirable exchange rates. We built Morse to extend what works about Mobile Money globally, as well as protect your money by holding it in stable digital dollars until you want to withdraw it locally.

Withdraw to M-Pesa, Airtel Money, or MTN directly. Receive 100% of what you sent, since we charge zero fees on local withdrawals.

Protect your money
Securely store your money in digital dollars, owned by you. Convert to your local currency only when rates work in your favor.

FAQs
How much does it actually cost to send money? Are there really no hidden fees?
We believe moving money should be fast and effortless, so most transactions are free. Some include a small fee, which you'll always see before you send.
Currently we charge a flat 50 cent fee for international deposits or withdrawals, with other transactions (sending money on Morse, spending with Morse Card, moving stablecoins, instantly withdrawing to your bank, etc.) remaining free. Our Account Details charge a 0.1% fee to receive international payments from freelance jobs, gig work, etc. around the world.
We don't mark up exchange rates either — you get the real exchange rate, which is almost always what you see on Google.
This could save you from paying 3–5% in fees on each transfer, compared to banks or services like Wise and Western Union (based on leading money transfer providers in August 2025). With Morse, your recipient receives 100% of what you send.
We're working to keep Morse as close to free as possible, which means any future fees will be minimal and transparent.
How fast will my family actually get the money?
There are two ways to get money to your family and friends in Africa, and they're both instant:
- Send via Morse: Money arrives immediately in their Morse Wallet, held in digital dollars and available for withdrawal at anytime
- Withdraw to your Mobile Money: Add money from payment sources across 75+ countries, then withdraw to your Mobile Money account and send locally in seconds
Either way, with Morse, your family and friends have immediate access to their money, while traditional services can take up to 3–5 days (as of August 2025).
Which African countries can I send to? Is my home country supported?
We offer Mobile Money transfers and local currency deposits/withdrawals in 21 African countries, with solely stablecoin transfers supported in another eight African countries. We also cover major mobile money networks: M-Pesa, Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, and more.
You can check exactly which countries and Mobile Money services we support by visiting our country page. If your home country isn't listed yet, we're constantly working on expanding our coverage across Africa, so sign up to the waitlist!
What documents do I need to sign up and how long does verification take?
Getting started requires just three simple things: a smartphone with fingerprint or face recognition, valid government issued identification for account verification, and a funding source, such as your Mobile Money account.
We accept most government-issued identification — such as driver's licenses, passports, and sometimes national IDs. The specific types accepted may vary by your current country of residence, but you can check during signup. Account setup is quick — typically under five minutes — and you can begin transfers immediately after verification.
How is Morse regulated?
We're regulated by the AFM in the Netherlands and registered with FinCEN in the U.S. Your money is securely held as stablecoins (digital versions of major currencies like USD and EUR), each one backed by actual reserves held in regulated accounts. Think of it as digital cash that's as safe as the money in your bank account. Plus, you own your money in this self-custodial digital wallet — which means we can't access it. Unlike traditional remittance services, where your money passes through multiple intermediaries, with Morse, you maintain control of your funds throughout the entire process.
